Mon Oct 12 2026

Project Independence was proud to be represented at the Tattersall’s Club Business Circle lunch, Leading with Purpose: An Afternoon with Glenn Keys AO, held on Thursday, 8 October 2026, in Brisbane.

The event was attended by Michael Claessens, CEO of Project Independence, and May Bhattacharya, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, who joined business and community leaders to hear from Glenn Keys AO, Founder and Executive Chair of Aspen Medical and Founder of Project Independence.

Drawing on his experience in global health leadership and entrepreneurship, Glenn shared insights into the growth of Aspen Medical and the vision behind Project Independence, highlighting the importance of purpose-driven leadership and creating meaningful opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Championing a pathway to homeownership

Beyond his achievements in business, Glenn’s ongoing advocacy is grounded in a commitment to greater independence, inclusion, and opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities.

Through Project Independence, Glenn has helped champion an innovative housing model that provides a pathway to homeownership for people with intellectual disabilities. The model supports residents to work towards owning their own homes while building financial security, autonomy, and a stronger sense of belonging in their communities.

By bringing this vision to business and community audiences, Glenn continues to raise awareness of the importance of innovative housing solutions and challenge conventional perceptions of what is possible for people with intellectual disabilities.

His advocacy reinforces a central message: homeownership should be a possibility for people with intellectual disabilities, not an opportunity beyond their reach.

Turning purpose into impact

The Tattersall’s Club Business Circle lunch provided a valuable opportunity to share the Project Independence story and encourage conversations about leadership, social impact and more inclusive pathways to homeownership.

The event also delivered direct support for the organisation, with $20 from every ticket sold donated to Project Independence. This contribution helps support the organisation’s work to expand opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to pursue greater independence through homeownership.

Project Independence thanks Tattersall’s Club Brisbane and its Business Circle for hosting the event and providing a platform to highlight this important work.

As Project Independence continues its mission, Glenn’s advocacy remains an important part of raising awareness and building support for a future where more people with intellectual disabilities can experience the security, choice and independence that come with having a place to call home.

Empowering lives one roof at a time.
