MARTIN FISK

CEO

Martin is the CEO of Project Independence, joining PI in September 2023. Martin has an extensive executive career, holding senior positions in the community, public and private sectors.

Most recently, he was CEO of Menslink, a well-known Canberra charity, where he grew the organisation substantially, while developing new programs and improving operations and governance. He also ensured Menslink’s future sustainability both through extensive income generation and effective cost control.

Martin has cared for people with intellectual disabilities and is keen to combine that experience with his professional expertise to drive PI’s growth and sustainability, while always ensuring that we deliver the best possible outcomes to our growing community of residents.

Martin is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Founding Director of local charity Fearless Women. He was awarded an OAM in 2022 for services to the community. He is married with two adult children and two adult step-children and is a keen bushwalker and cross-country skier.

CATHERINE POWELL

FUNDRAISING MANAGER

Catherine has a diverse background in many aspects of fundraising, event planning and customer service with over 5 years experience in the not for profit sector. She loves to make a difference in the world in whatever way possible.

Catherine’s responsibilities as the Fundraising Manager at Project Independence are to facilitate various fundraising promotions and activities, engage with current and potential stakeholders and assist with marketing.

STEVE GIORGIONI

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Steve Giorgioni, the Operations Coordinator at PI, brings thirty years’ experience in the Disability Sector to the role. He has been a team leader in group homes, worked in respite accommodation, and supported people with disability in the workplace.

Steve’s current role involves providing strategic guidance to the Live-In Resident Coordinators, supporting PI residents to meet their goals of independence and he serves as the primary contact for family/carers. He is also responsible for operational aspects such as repairs, maintenance, security and coordinating fire drills. Steve finds his work fulfilling because he gets to collaborate with amazing individuals.

VICTORIA MORRIS

LIVE-IN RESIDENT COORDINATOR
PI Latham

The Live-In Resident Coordinator for Latham, Vickie Morris, has a strong background in the community sector and has the distinction of being PIs longest-serving LIRC. Vickie is committed to building genuine connections with the residents and assisting them in their daily challenges.

At Latham, Vickie undertakes household tasks such as shopping and cooking, and encourages residents to participate in these activities as much as possible. Additionally, she provides support to residents to problem-solve and grow their skills of independence. Vickie finds her work very rewarding due to the engagement she has with such wonderful people.

LEE HELM

LIVE-IN RESIDENT COORDINATOR
PI Harrison

To her role as Live-In Resident Coordinator for PI Harrison, Lee brings with her more than twenty years’ experience in the community sector. Lee thrives on engaging and supporting residents to become the best versions of themselves and believes in setting an example by engaging in healthy activities and pursuing community involvement.

At Harrison, Lee provides a safe and positive living environment, executes household tasks such as shopping and cooking, and empowers residents to develop independent living skills. She is full of admiration for the residents who amaze her with their growth, achievements and positive outlook on life.

SHARI MCKENNA

LIVE-IN RESIDENT COORDINATOR
PI Phillip

Shari is the Live-In Resident Coordinator at PIs newest property in Phillip. With a background in disability support work, Shari takes great pride in helping residents settle into their PI homes and embark on their path to independence.

In addition to managing specific household tasks, Shari sees her role as to support and empower Phillip residents. She understands how important it is to make positive choices and encourages residents to reach for a fulfilling, independent future. Shari views it a true privilege to accompany the residents every step of the way on their journey to independence.
